Equo at Interzoo 2026: Bactrizyme, Origan and Rubino

Equo booth at Interzoo 2026

At Interzoo 2026 we also met Equo, an Italian company that has been working for years on products for freshwater aquariums, marine aquariums and ponds, with a very recognizable approach: practical solutions designed to address real issues in everyday aquarium management.

During our tour through the booths in Nuremberg, at a fair that we described in our general editorial as less spectacular but very concrete, Equo caught our attention especially with some products aimed at biological aquarium management and fish well-being. In particular, we focused on Bactrizyme, a biological balancer also designed to help control cyanobacteria, and on two freshwater products such as Origan and Rubino.

Equo at Interzoo 2026 in short: among the most interesting products we saw were Bactrizyme, a combination of bacteria and enzymes for biological balance and cyanobacteria control, Origan, an oregano concentrate designed to support freshwater fish, and Rubino, a conditioner specifically developed for goldfish, designed to remove chlorine and metals and protect the mucous membranes.

The video of Equo at Interzoo 2026

For this article we also prepared a dedicated video about the Equo booth at Interzoo 2026. In just a few minutes we take you in front of the most interesting products we saw in Nuremberg, with a special focus on Bactrizyme, Origan and Rubino.

The video was created as a support to this article: some products, especially when talking about bacteria, enzymes, cyanobacteria and conditioners, are easier to understand when seen directly and connected to real aquarium management.

Equo: a very practical approach to everyday aquarium management

The impression we had at the Equo booth was that of a company very focused on the concrete problems aquarists face. Not products designed only to make an impression at a fair, but solutions that enter everyday management: treating water, protecting fish, maintaining biological stability, reducing organic waste and preventing or counteracting issues such as cyanobacteria.

This is an interesting approach because in aquarium keeping we often talk a lot about technology and large systems, but in practice the difference is also made by products that may appear simpler: a good conditioner, an effective biological support, better management of organic matter and greater care during water changes or fish introduction.

From this point of view, Equo moves in a very concrete direction, with products designed to simplify management without turning every intervention into a complicated procedure.

Bactrizyme: bacteria, enzymes and cyanobacteria control

The most interesting product we saw at the booth was certainly Bactrizyme, presented by Equo as a biological balancer for freshwater and marine aquariums, also designed to support the control of cyanobacteria.

The formulation is based on a blend of selected beneficial bacteria and enzymes. The bacterial strains are designed to promote a healthier aquatic environment, reducing organic waste and helping to prevent the growth of unwanted algae. The enzymes, on the other hand, accelerate the decomposition of organic materials, with the aim of improving water quality and reducing the accumulation of detritus.

The most interesting point concerns cyanobacteria. According to Equo, the enzymes in Bactrizyme help break down starches and proteins present in the water, thereby reducing some of the nutrient sources that may promote the proliferation of cyanobacteria. The product can also be used when cyanobacteria are already present, always as part of an overall aquarium management strategy.

This aspect is important to underline: cyanobacteria are rarely caused by a single factor. Lighting, nutrients, stagnant areas, organic buildup, biological instability and maintenance can all contribute to the problem. For this reason, a product like Bactrizyme should be seen as a support tool, not as a magic solution. However, the idea of working on organic matter degradation and biological competition is certainly interesting.

Bactrizyme: clearer water and less organic detritus

Among the benefits declared by Equo are clearer water, reduced suspended organic matter, a more balanced environment and a reduced need for frequent cleaning of the filter and substrate. The product is indicated for both freshwater and marine aquariums, making it interesting for those who manage different systems.

The single-dose vials are a practical detail that should not be underestimated. In products based on bacteria and enzymes, freshness and preservation can make a difference. The single-dose format, long associated with Equo, not only simplifies dosing but also allows the aquarist to use a sealed vial each time, reducing mistakes and contamination.

The protocol suggested by Equo recommends, during aquarium start-up, dosing an orange vial and a blue vial of 5 ml on alternate days, up to 500 liters of water, for 6 consecutive days, for a total of three orange vials and three blue vials. For maintenance, or after a water change, Equo indicates one 5 ml vial every 7 days, alternating orange and blue vials, again up to 500 liters.

As always when working with intense biological processes, Equo recommends paying attention to dissolved oxygen levels if the dosage is increased. This is a correct note, because greater bacterial activity can increase oxygen consumption, especially in heavily stocked or poorly oxygenated aquariums.

Origan: oregano concentrate to support fish

Alongside Bactrizyme, at the booth we also saw Origan, a freshwater product based on reverse osmosis water and oregano. Equo presents it as an oregano concentrate for fish, using natural compounds such as thymol and carvacrol, traditionally known for their antibacterial and antiviral properties.

According to Equo, Origan can help support fish thanks to antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as a possible support for the immune system and digestion. It is also indicated as a support for water quality, thanks to the reduction of pathogenic microorganism growth.

Here too, it is important to read the product with the right balance. We are not talking about a medicine to be interpreted as an automatic solution to any disease, but about a natural support that can be part of more careful fish well-being management, especially in freshwater aquariums where prevention, water quality and proper nutrition remain essential.

The dosage indicated by Equo is 5 ml per 100 liters of water, one or more times per week. It is also possible to add a few drops directly to the fish food, for a more direct beneficial effect. The product should be shaken before use and stored in a cool place, preferably in the refrigerator.

Rubino: specific conditioner for goldfish

Another interesting product seen at the booth is Rubino, a conditioner specifically developed for goldfish. It is designed to make tap water more suitable for aquarium life, removing chlorine and metals and helping to protect the mucous membranes of fish.

Equo underlines how tap water, although microbiologically safe, is not automatically ideal for aquariums: it may contain chlorine and metals such as cadmium, lead, copper and zinc, elements that can be potentially harmful to fish. Rubino is formulated to remove chlorine and metals, without binding the metals present in fertilizers or supplements, and to make the water more suitable for flora and fauna.

The presence of PVP is an interesting detail: it is a colloidal substance indicated to protect the mucous membranes of fish and help their regeneration when damaged, for example during transport, water changes, abrasions or the introduction of new fish. These are precisely the moments when a good conditioner can make a difference, reducing part of the stress related to water quality and animal handling.

The indicated dosage is 5 ml per 10 liters on the total volume when setting up an aquarium, or 5 ml per 10 liters of new water during water changes.

Equo at AcquariaItalia 2026

Equo’s presence will not stop at Interzoo 2026. The company will also attend AcquariaItalia 2026, the Italian fair dedicated to the aquarium world that will take place at Malpensa Fiere.

Equo will be present both during the public days and during the B2B day, designed for retailers, distributors, companies and professionals in the sector. It will therefore be an important opportunity to meet the company directly, see the products, ask questions and better understand the philosophy of an Italian company that has been working for years on specific solutions for aquarium management.

For a brand like Equo, direct discussion with aquarists, retailers and professionals is particularly interesting, because many products cannot be fully understood by reading a technical sheet alone. They need to be connected to real management: water changes, fish introduction, prevention, water quality, filter maintenance and biological problem solving.

The people behind the Equo booth

As always, a fair like Interzoo is not only about products, but also about meetings. At the Equo booth we had the opportunity to speak with the company and better understand some of the solutions presented. This is exactly one of the aspects that makes a fair useful: going beyond the catalog and listening directly to the people who work on the products every day.

What we think

The presence of Equo at Interzoo 2026 seemed very consistent with the current moment of aquarium keeping: fewer “spectacular” fair products and more concrete solutions for everyday management. Bactrizyme is interesting because it works on bacteria, enzymes, organic matter and cyanobacteria; Origan fits into the theme of natural fish support; Rubino, on the other hand, reminds us how important it still is to properly treat tap water, especially in freshwater aquariums and systems dedicated to goldfish.

These are not products to be read as magic solutions, and this should always be emphasized. In aquarium keeping, the basis remains correct management: water changes, maintenance, observation, filtration, oxygenation and stability. But having targeted tools, easy to use and designed for real problems, can help a lot, especially when they are part of a conscious management routine.

In this sense, Equo’s presence at AcquariaItalia 2026 will be an interesting opportunity for the Italian public: to see the products, ask questions and speak directly with an Italian company that works on practical solutions for everyday aquarium keeping.
