Andrea’s Negusanti Marine Aquarium, tank of the month

Here we are to introduce and comment one of the most beautiful reef tanks I’ve ever seen. Most of all, we’d like to admire the skill of Andrea Negusanti, aka AndreaNegu, who was able to have as many as two of his tanks awarded as “tank of the month”. We’re also proud to have Andrea as the centerpiece of our pizza-and-aquarium-lovers group “MagnaRomagna“.

Andrea’s tank was tailored in order to fit into his home environment and is based on a custom Elos tank (125x70x55) entirely made in extra clear glass 15 mm thick. The tank’s gross capacity is 480 liters, which is also the system’s overall capacity, also considering sump volumes.

Interzoo 2012: The Red Sea booth

Continuing in Hall 4, we also visited the stand Red Sea. What struck us most were undoubtedly the aquariums, modular, and complete, really well done.

Interzoo Nuremberg 2012

Limulus is come back!

Many of you, and especially hobbyists from electronic and aquarium, will remember AQUASMART, the system developed by Limulus, born from the Roberto Buti‘s desire to create a system to manage their marine aquarium, which then evolved until reaching full maturity with the complete system.

Unfortunately at some point the system has run aground, its development has been blocked, and for a time there was concern for the continuity of the system.

Today, finally, Limulus is back, the website has been restored, and finally we have heard about AQUASMART II, you can join the forum and indicate the preferences for the development of this wonderful system.

AndreaNegu goes from T5 to Elos Epower with the new blue EliteXP

Recently, we talk a lot about led lighting, although it is my opinion that for SPS corals is today still preferable a traditional HQi lamp.

In the future we will definitely have led lighting over our tank, given the advantages they have, especially when it will be possible to have a greater lumens watts than offered today, say around 180/200 lumens per watt to compete with lamps of 250 watts HQi and also 250/300 lumens per watt for 400 watt, and above all a general decline in prices, still quite high.

Even AndreaNegu, owner of a beautiful aquarium already the subject of several photos here  into DaniReef.com and tank of the month of AcquaPortal , in his last tank has decided to change from his T5 lighting with 10 neon, to the wonderful double-E power with manta and blue EliteXP, which is among others one of the first blue EliteXP to be delivered on the market.

The tank as you can see is very beautiful, and all photos of this article are clickable.

As we said the blue EliteXP is one of the first to be delivered on the market, and is composed of 18 3-watt blue LEDs and 3 red LEDs. The power is remarkable, in a tank that measures 125×70 cm you can see with only 3 red led what we can have:

Aquamar Nanoscope D-D, Review

The Aquamar Nanoscope D-D it’s an optical tool with a 48x magnification. It’s a mesoscope produced by The Aquarium Solution and distribuited in Italy by Aquaristica.

It ‘an object that could satisfy both the playful aspect (allowing you to comfortably observe the spectacle offered by a polyps of SPS as they expand and prey) and the need to inspect the state of health of an animal or verify the presence of micro-organisms and undesirable pests.

My new sump

After so much time, I ordered one new glass sump for my marine aquarium

At first glance it seems a very simple sump but… it is not! In the same footprint of the previous one, only 5 cm more depth, I have so much more.

The new dimensions are 70×50 but with 50 cm height, all around but in the middle of the sump where I have only 40 cm to easily work, to put in and out the skimmer, the calcium reactor, and all the other reactors I need.

The space in the left is for a refugium, with a total capacity of almost 46 litres.

The space for osmosis water it’s around the sump, with a total capacity of about 28 litres.

8 mm glass thickness.

The bottom is created with two glass plates… much more strong… do we need it? I don’t know… but…
