Complimenti ancora a Mirco!!!

At the last MagnaRomagna we went to visit the new and splendid Mirco’s tank, aka MadMaxReef (clicking on your nick you can visit his web page). I must say that the tank, although builted recently from an older tank, is wonderful, both for the technical solutions designed, though not all yet implemented, both for growth on almost all corals. What we say a painless changing tank.
Impressive especially the two Seriatopora histrix, pink and yellow one, in the center of tank, a real jewel in a beautiful tank.
It was not easy to pull off a coherent images caused by a blue background (like a Cinema Blue Screen) because the blue always seemed saturated also the strong illumination of T5 has forced me to make choices, photos dark not burning the corals exposed to light, and vice versa too lighter for photos trying to see everything.
Mirco Congratulations again!

Un nuovo refrigeratore: TECO TR15 – A new chiller: TECO TR15

For English version please click here

Sito web Teco: www.tecoonline.com
Since summer is coming and since my recent change of lighting system from T5 to HQi (Elos E-Power), I decided to replace my old chiller (Aquamedic Titan 250) with a more powerful, the Teco TR15 .
The choice fell on this model because of the excellent reputation of the Italian brand, which I found to be in Ravenna, not far from Rimini, and the great reviews that I read about. Even if I found I was good with Aquamedic I decided to change to try something new.
Obviously exchanger titanium was a must, and the total power consumption is equal to 350W, over three times the previous Aquamedic. In the coming days I’ll put it in operation and I will take some pictures of the installation, from the box to the tank.
Then in the late summer of course there will be a long and thorough review, if you’ve any questions please leave a comment.
A small note: I deliberately chose to avoid Chinese products, giving confidence to an italian company especially for the guarantee and the guarantees that it can offer me at the expense of a higher purchase price, you know the quality you pay, and this is priceless. In addition to rumors in different forums it seems that the Italian product is characterized by greater efficiency and, above all, reduced noise levels. All points I will look at in the future very deeply.

I recently went to see the wonderful tank of Paolo, so beautiful tank that has been chosen as the Acquaportal tank of the month. The tank is very beautiful as all the animals. The fishes are fabulous, and the pictures … well, absolutely great:) and in fact I expect many comments in this regard.
Some technical info about the tank: build from Elos in 15mm measures 135x85x55h, with technical part consists of skimmer LGMs900, self made (but not from him) calcium reactor and two Diamond Lumenarc III with 2 bulbs 250W HQI and 2 neon T5, although Paul later this wonderful service has decided to replace the lights with T5 system even more powerful than it had before.
I leave you to the photos of this magnificent aquarium, and I apologize now for the fact that there are very many, because I have not been able to choose what to delete … and since this is a backstage …

Almost a month ago I photographed the Rhizotrochus typus for which I have made a separate post, but at the same time I was able to photograph the beautiful tank in which it was housed. A tank I would say perfect, that if I could I would have already put in my living room, 120x80x50, enough to make 3 aquarium in the same tank, depending on the face where you look.
The tank is really ‘particular, in relation to the same tank with hard corals this is also home to many LPS, in a particular layout that lives plenty of room for swimming. Even the fish are focused mainly on a large group of Apogon cyanosoma, cardinal fish that swim in groups.

Recently I was in a beautiful shop where I discover a very unusual coral. A splendid example of Rizotrochus typus, a coral of the family Flabellidae, very difficult to see also in nature because azooxanthellated and therefore not always on top even in the deepest dive.
The coral is truly wonderful, although unfortunately you can find a few informations even in specialized books. Within Corals of the world of Jen Veron there is a beautiful picture of a sample on page 10 of volume 1, but then nothing more. Aquarium corals by Eric H. Borneman doesn’t include in the 9-line dedicated to the family flabellidae.
The only information that seems to be reliable are those of a solitary coral that lives in the pacific ocean.

Complimenti Luca!

Sunday February 8 I was at meeting MagnaModena organized by reef keepers of Modena, and I had the good fortune, like many others, to meet Lucasabao, moderator of Reef Italia Forum and especially the owner of an amazing tank. A tank where, as they say, always beats the sun. Unfortunately there were so many people and so we could not speak as we should about his tank … I can only tell you that the light is based on 5 lamps to 400W HQi and 2 lamps of 250w HQi, if I remember correctly … because I’m so confused if 1 or 2 of 250 lamps…, and obviously all the neon supplied. Some other flash are one huge Bubble King skimmer, and a return pump placed in the garden. Spectacular.
I have had decrease in brightness my photos, because they were too bright!
A true compliment to Lucasabao for creating a tank of its kind, where the fish actually swim as the sea, because the pool is a meter long to the right and 70 cm to the left, for more than 2 meter lenght, and the glass that combines the front is curved, so as to have a fabulous scenic effect, even if it is somewhat difficult to photograph animals in detail.
And the tanks is only 1 year old… it must grow up! But I like very much… also if it’s only so young.
Thanks Lucasabao

Matteo Benassi is one of my best friends, I met him into the Acquaportal Forum some years ago, and from that moment we became friends. So when he spoke me about his will to change tank I was very happy… because you know, for our reef keeper to change tank is like to rebirth…
You can see his old tank by clicking here: the tank of Matteo Benassi
