Salento Aquarium – 8° edition – 2010 april 16/18 – Reportage

As anticipated by now over a month ago, I was hosted in Lecce during the event “Salento Aquariums” , where I gave a lecture entitled “Aquarium, how taking pictures“, the presentation will be online soon for free consultation.

In this adventure, I was accompanied by Zanna Bianca, and I have also quote the legendary Maurizio Quarta, our guide for Lecce and Salento Aquariums, which has made us feel at ease and accompanied us inside of a culinary journey and showed us many fascinating sides of Lecce. Thanks Maurizio.

Venerdì 7 maggio si è tenuto un nuovo incontro del Magna Romagna, dopo tanto tempo. E devo dire che ci voleva properio, era troppo tempo che non ci si vedeva davanti ad un piatto di buon pesce.

Per la prima volta ci siamo visti a Cattolica, dapprima a fare un aperitivo a casa di Roberto, in modo da avere la scusa di vedere la sua bellissima vasca (vi invito a cliccare sul suo nome per vedere la sua splendida vasca), poi per andare a mangiare al ristorante “Il Marittimo” proprio sul porto di Cattolica.

Roberto dopo aver fatto gli onori di casa è stato per la prima volta ospite del Magna Romagna, e devo dire che essendo una buona forchetta sarà ospite anche di tanti altri eventi, Andrea è tornato a farci visita, e finalmente dopo tanto tempo abbiamo avuto la gioia di rivedere Pino e di ascoltare dalle sue parole la trasformazione della sua vasca da sps ad lps e votata al risparmio energetico.

EA ha parlato ancora dei suoi esperimenti sulle lampade a led, abbiamo parlato di integrazioni, schiumatoi e poi ci siamo concentrati anche sulla fiera di Norimberga.

Una bellissima serata vissuta come sempre sul tema dell’amicizia, del divertimento e della condivisione, speriamo presto di poter bissare  la cena per parlare di quello che alcuni di noi vedranno (e compreranno) a Norimberga.

L’acquario marino di Roberto Franchini – the tank of

Era un po’ di tempo che non aggiungevo qualche bella vasca da vedere, e questa volta ho avuto l’opportunità di vedere la bellissima vasca di Roberto. Roberto è un acquariofilo di Cattolica che ho conosciuto grazie ad Hobby Acquari e che ho avuto modo di ospitare a casa mia per fargli vedere i progressi della mia vasca, e che quindi ho avuto modo di conoscere in maniera abbastanza approfondita.

Posso dire senza tema di smentita alcuno che Roberto è un vero appassionato di acquari, è un acquariofilo di lunga data ed è innamoratissimo dei coralli duri a polipo piccolo (sps), soprattutto di tutte quelle Acropore di tipo tabulare. Pensate solo che in gioventù ebbe come maestro un acquariofilo di fama internazionale… tale Peter Wilkens…

Come per gli anni precedenti, grazie alla collaborazione con l’associazione culturale RLUNG-TA, abbiamo organizzato una serata dedicata alla conoscenza dei mari del mondo attraverso la visione di filmati subacquei realizzati da videoperatori di fama internazionale. In questa edizione, in particolare, sarà possibile visionare i filmati che hanno vinto la palma d’oro e la palma d’argento al Festival Mondiale dell’Immagine Sottomarina di Antibes 2008.
Questi i protagonisti della serata:

Come per le scorse edizioni, anche quest’anno la manifestazione ha lo scopo di raccogliere fondi che verranno devoluti alla Deepshikha High School di Katmandu, un istituto nepalese che opera per tutelare i bambini orfani o che vivono in strada dando loro un’istruzione e tutte le cure necessarie.

Durante la serata sarà, inoltre, possibile visionare una mostra fotografica realizzata dalle opere di fotografi “non professionisti” della Polisportiva Sub Riccione e di altri Club subacquei del circondario, dove ci saranno diverse mie foto, tra l’altro

Friday 26 of march will be held the fourth edition of the event OCEANOmare.

As in previous years, thanks to the cooperation with the cultural association RLUNG-TA, was organized an evening dedicated to the knowledge of the seas of the world through the vision of movies made by divers of an international reputation. In this edition, in particular, you can watch movies that have won the Golden Palm and the Silver Palm at the International Antibes 2008. These are the protagonists of the evening:

During the evening will be also possible to view an exhibition of photographs made by photographers “amateurs”, where there will be some of my photos

As with previous editions, this year the event aims to raise funds that will be devolved to Deepshikha High School in Kathmandu, a Nepalese organization that works to protect children orphaned or living on the streets by giving them an education and all treatment.

Marsa Alam – House Reef – night diving – English Version

During our last holiday in Marsa Alam we also had the fortune to dive in the night straight from the dock of our resort, a place called House Reef.

It was my first night diving, and although the sea was very rough was an unforgettable experience to be repeated as soon as possible (I’m already waiting for the next trip to Egypt in fact)

We have to thank once again the structure of the diving SeaWorld and in this particular case we have to thank especially our guide Roberto Piazza that made us not only as a guide but there has been the godfather of this our first night dive, after a briefing longer than usual, with the appropriate equipment we went down loads of expectations!

Marsa Shoona is a lagoon between the city of Marsa Alam and his airport, in the Red Sea, Egypt.

It was a trip proposed by SeaWorld diving, and so we went… and I assure you… it’s worth a while, sure!

The new project of DaniReef: the tank

Finally my new project takes off. After the problem of my previous tank that after two years had almost completely unstuck (see here), I ordered a new tank and thanks to Alessandro Falco who lent me his aquarium to keep “on holiday” my adored fish, I managed at last to take off.

The choice of measures has been to prefer a tank that would give the idea of being large, so a very wide format, despite the height. So I confirmed the length of the front window of 130 cm, while I had to settle of a width of 60 cm, and a total height of 50 cm, which might give a more wide aquascape, this also because of the layout I have in mind and you’ll see soon.

Venerdì 16 ottobre c’è stata un’altra cena del Magna Romagna che si è tenuta presso il mitico ristorante Zodiaco di Rimini.

Questa volta ci sono state ben due facce nuove che sono intervenute, Andrea e Wojciech, a cui quindi dedichiamo la bella serata passata insieme.

Temi del giorno sono state le lampade a led, soprattutto grazie alle prove di EA, la mia nuova vasca, ed ovviamente i racconti dei nuovi arrivati. Si è parlato anche dello schiumatoio di andreanegu così come di un tipo di collegamento leggermente diverso dal solito che pare però non abbia dato i suoi frutti

Marsa Alam – Abu Dabbab – English Version

Abu Dabbab is probably the most beautiful bay of Marsa Alam, Red Sea, which has recently also become a protected natural park by the Egyptian government. So it is obligatory to pay a fee to visit this beautiful lagoon.

As you can see in the picture by satellite, which you can click to go to Google Maps, the lagoon is huge, with very fine sand. On the right stands the hotel complex Sol Y Mar Abu Dabbab. The Reef to visit are placed on two sides of the lagoon, both starting from the shore, the left reef is the most attractive (or at least so say the guides) and is probably the finest of Marsa Alam, from what I saw .
