We are talking about the 16th edition of one of the most important Asian exhibitions in the world. The well known event dedicated to ornamental fishes is now happening once a year, and it is no longer alternating with Nuremberg Interzoo (reportage here) like it used to be.

The exhibition, originally taking place in Singapore since 1989, has been moved to Guangzhou last year, in China. As we said before, from now on it will be held every year: when Interzoo doesn’t occur it will be in May, in the other years it will happen in September.

The fair will also include Pet Fair and Aqua Fair in contiguous pavilions. Let’s have a look at the numbers: 40.000 square metres of exposition, 450 exhibitors, and an expected attendance of 30.000 people of which 15.000 coming from the business sector.

This fair is happening now after just a few months from the one in September, which is probably why it has been cut down to 3 days, removing Thursday. On Friday it will be accessible for business professionals only, while Saturday and Sunday it will be open to the public as well.

Aquarama 2017 will be held at Guangzhou Import & Export Fair Complex (PaZhou).

The attendance is free for the business professionals who registered online, while there will be a fee of 100 rmb for two days entrance for the public, which translates to about 13 euros at today’s exchange rate.

Aquarama 2017 is the key Asian event regarding aquaculture, so important as it occurs in the area where the majority of animals exports takes place, including those of marine fishes and corals which are collected not directly in China, but still from the Pacific and Indian Ocean.

Exhibitions areas

Aquarama 2017 will be divided into the following theme related areas:

  • Aquariums
  • Aquarium cabinets
  • Lighting
  • Aerators, filters and pumps
  • Thermostats
  • Measuring instruments
  • Technical equipment
  • Ornaments and decorations
  • Plants
  • Ornamental fishes
  • Aquarium animals food
  • Health
  • Treatments
  • Accessories

In addition to these, there will be an exhibition program on aquarium food technologies.

The exhibitors

There will be three Italian companies:

  • Aquapress Bleher
  • Ferplast S.p.A.
  • Sicce

Other international companies which will join Aquarama 2017 are also:

  • AB Aqua Medic (Germany)
  • Aquarium Munster Pahlsmeier GmbH (Germany)
  • Bassleer Biofish (Belgium)
  • Hagen | Fluval (Canada)
  • Hailea
  • Resun
  • Skimz

Compared to last year, the important companies at the fair have dropped in numbers. This is probably due to the fact that there are now two identical exhibitions only 8 months apart. This is probably too much even for Chinese market which is also waiting for the CIPS in November. We should also keep in mind that this fair is dedicated more to live stock trading rather than technologies.

Here is the link where you can find the complete list of exhibitors.

There will also be many competitions taking place during the event:

International Fish competition, the greater international contest dedicated to ornamental fishes, divided in categories as following:

1. Betta competition, dedicated to Siamese fighting fishes
2. Goldfish competition
3. Discus competition
4. Dragon Fish competition, dedicated to Arowana
5. Guppy championship

Moreover, there will be a contest for Aquascaping and one dedicated to marine tanks.

One of the judges will be Jake Adams, director of ReefBuilders, which I assume most of our readers will be familiar with.
