La Luce in natura, comparazioni con la luce in acquario

Durante il MagnaModena che si è tenuto domenica 8 febbraio abbiamo avuto la fortuna di assistere ad una presentazione di Nicola Gandini, titolare della ditta Elos che ci ha parlato della funzione e delle peculiarità della luce in acquario. Partendo da dati certi e misurabili e non dalle solite considerazioni spicciole.
Io ho poi preso la relazione e l’ho espansa con le mie conoscenze e l’ho resa in modo più leggibile, ringrazio quindi Nicola per la presentazione originaria e spero che in questo modo riusciate a capire meglio le diverse interazioni che sono citate, per ogni domanda non esitate a lasciare il vostro commento sotto a cui sarò felice di rispondere.

In occasione del MagnaModena che si è tenuto domenica 8 febbraio abbiamo avuto la possibilità di effettuare alcune misure sulla quantità di illuminazione prodotta da varie tipologie di lampade per acquario.
Per farlo ci siamo avvalsi di un misuratore di Par Light Meter Li-Cor Li 250A e di un luxmetro HD9221.
Le lampade oggetto della nostra misurazione sono state:
- Lumenarc III con bulbo HQi BLV 400w da 10.000°K
- E-Power con bulbo HQi Elos Spectra 250w da 10.000°K
- E-lite con 18 led da 64w
- Plafoniera commerciale con 2×24w PL da 10.000°K

At the MagnaModena held Sunday February 8, we had the opportunity to undertake certain measures of the amount of light produced by various types of lamps for aquarium.
To do this we used a light Meter Li-Cor Li 250A and a Lux Meters HD9221.
The measured lamps have been:
- Lumenarc III with bulb HQi BLV 400w of 10.000°K
- E-Power with bulb HQi Elos Spectra 250w of 10.000°K
- E-lite with 18 led and 64w
- Commercial Light with 2×24w PL of 10.000°K

Domenica 8 febbraio si è tenuto il primo Magna Modena, nome di chiare origini MagnaRomagnole 
Grazie alla passione dell’amico Argobax che ha organizzato il pranzo a Bastiglia in provincia di Modena in collaborazione con il ristorante Vitamina Cafè e con Elos.
La giornata è stata estremamente piacevole ed interessante.
Per prima cosa io e la banda residua del Magna Romagna, e cioè Lumaz e Zanna Bianca siamo stati la mattina presto a casa di Matteo Benassi a vedere la sua splendida vasca, come potete vedere cliccando qua: La nuova (grande) vasca di Matteo Benassi.
Poi siamo andati a Bastiglia, dove ci siamo incontrati con tutti gli altri, e dove abbiamo lautamente pranzato al ristorante Vitamina Cafè. Antipasti misti, riso alle pere, pasta al ragù di salsiccia, grigliata mista, e dolce finale, a parte la mia dieta, un ottimo pranzo!
Nel pomeriggio c’è stata una interessantissima presentazione sulla luce, curata da Nicola Gandini, in cui ha cercato di spiegarci cosa sia importante per i coralli e ci ha dato delle indicazioni sulla luce che lui ritiene più opportuno utilizzare in acquario. Poi siamo stati a vedere un’altra splendida vasca, la vasca di Lucasabao moderatore di Reef Italia le cui foto potete vederle qua: La vasca di Luca Girlando “Lucasabao“. Una vasca splendida, ancora giovane ma che crescerà sicuramente bene, certo non gli manca la luce .
Ed alla fine siamo tornati al Vitamina Cafè dove grazie agli strumenti portati e messi a disposizione da Elos, abbiamo potuto comparare la potenza luminosa di varie lampade a confronto, misurando emissione in PAR e Lumen su lumenarc III con lampadina da 400w BLV, E-power con lampadina Elos da 250w, E-lite, e lampada a neon PL, i risultati sono stati molto interessanti e potete leggerli qua: Misurazioni sulla luce.

Thanks to the passion of Argobax who organized the lunch at Bastiglia (Mo) in collaboration with the restaurant Vitamina Cafè and Elos.
The day was very pleasant and interesting.
At the beginning of the day me and the band of Magna Romagna, Lumaz and Zanna Bianca, we went at the home of Matteo Benassi to see his wonderful tank, as you can see by clicking here: The new (large) tank of Matteo Benassi .
Then we went to Bastiglia, where we met with all the others, and where we lunched at a restaurant Vitamina Cafè. Mixed, rice pears, pasta with ragu of sausage, barbecue joint, and sweet finish, apart from my diet, a good lunch!
In the afternoon there was an interesting presentation on the light, by Nicola Gandini, in which he tried to explain what is the light important for the corals and gave us indications about light he considers most appropriate to use in aquarium. The discussion was very interesting and you can find here: The importance of light in the aquarium, and certainly deserves further evaluation.
Then we went to see another beautiful tank, the pool of Lucasabao moderator of Reef Italia whose photos you can see here: The tank of Luca Girlando “Lucasabao”. A beautiful tank, still young but surely that will grow well, certainly not lack the light .
And in the end we returned to the Vitamina Cafè where, thanks to the tools carried and made available by Elos, we were able to compare the light output of various lamps compared by measuring emission at Lumen and PAR: lumenarc III with 400w light bulb from BLV, E-power with light from Elos 250w, E-lite, and a neon lamp PL, the results were very interesting and you can read here: Measurements on the light.

Domenica 8 febbraio in occasione del MagnaModena organizzato dagli acquariofili di modena, ho avuto la fortuna, come tanti altri, di fare la conoscenza di Lucasabao, moderatore del forum di Reef Italia e soprattutto proprietario di una vasca favolosa. Una vasca dove, come si dice, batte sempre il sole. Purtroppo eravamo in tanti e quindi non abbiamo potuto parlare come si deve della vasca… posso solo dirvi che è illuminata da 5 plafoniere da 400w e 2 plafoniere da 250w se non ricordo male… cioè sono indeciso se una o due da 250w, più ovviamente i neon a corredo. Qualche altro flash sono lo schiumatoio Bubble King enorme, ed una pompa di risalita posta in giardino. Spettacolare.
Considerate che le fotografie le ho dovute quasi tutte diminuire di luminosità perché erano abbaglianti!!!
Un vero complimento a Lucasabao per aver creato una vasca del genere, dove effettivamente i pesci nuotano come al mare, infatti la vasca è lunga un metro a destra e 70 cm a sinistra, ed il vetro che unisce la parte anteriore è curvo e misura più di due metri, così da avere un favoloso effetto scenico, anche se poi risulta leggermente difficile fotografare gli animali in dettaglio.
Inoltre devo sottolineare che, come si vede dalle foto, la vasca è molto giovane, quindi ha ampi spazi di crescita, anche se già così è un vero spettacolo!

Sunday February 8 I was at meeting MagnaModena organized by reef keepers of Modena, and I had the good fortune, like many others, to meet Lucasabao, moderator of Reef Italia Forum and especially the owner of an amazing tank. A tank where, as they say, always beats the sun. Unfortunately there were so many people and so we could not speak as we should about his tank … I can only tell you that the light is based on 5 lamps to 400W HQi and 2 lamps of 250w HQi, if I remember correctly … because I’m so confused if 1 or 2 of 250 lamps…, and obviously all the neon supplied. Some other flash are one huge Bubble King skimmer, and a return pump placed in the garden. Spectacular.
I have had decrease in brightness my photos, because they were too bright!
A true compliment to Lucasabao for creating a tank of its kind, where the fish actually swim as the sea, because the pool is a meter long to the right and 70 cm to the left, for more than 2 meter lenght, and the glass that combines the front is curved, so as to have a fabulous scenic effect, even if it is somewhat difficult to photograph animals in detail.
And the tanks is only 1 year old… it must grow up! But I like very much… also if it’s only so young.

Come tutti sapete Matteo Benassi ed io siamo amici da lungo tempo, una amicizia nata dall’acquario e consolidatasi con il tempo. Ho quindi accolto con entusiamo l’idea che cambiasse vasca, perché in fondo per noi acquariofili una nuova vasca è sempre una nuova rinascita, nuovi stimoli e nuove avventure.
E conoscendo Matteo e la sua bravura ero sicuro che la nuova vasca sarebbe stata un successo!
Intanto vi ricordo quella vecchia, bellissima, che potete vedere cliccando qua: la vasca di Matteo Benassi (si apre in un una nuova finestra).
Ad agosto mi parlò del nuovo progetto portato avanti dalla Skym Acquari, come potete leggere nel suo Blog, bhè il post lasciava presagire come il progetto fosse splendido, curato nei minimi particolari.
Solo la vasca è lunga ben 237 cm!!!

Matteo Benassi is one of my best friends, I met him into the Acquaportal Forum some years ago, and from that moment we became friends. So when he spoke me about his will to change tank I was very happy… because you know, for our reef keeper to change tank is like to rebirth…
